Mate of mine in the US bought this tool box for for $600 ( £350 )and I think it looks the nuts. So I start looking about the UK for the same box, thinking it can't be more than £500 here .Wrong !!! The cheapest I could find it was for £1150. Even just the top half costs £550 here. Ok , so there's a chance that box is only made in the US, and by the time someone imports them and makes a profit, it's going to cost a bit more. But £700 more ???
It's not just that but nearly everything car related is the same.Even after paying nearly 30% in tax and pastage costs, it's still cheaper to buy a lot of stuff in the US.The worst part is when some of it is UK made....

I bought a halfords professional socket and spanner set last year and just found it today , must stop buying new weapons , anyway back on topic , the reason things are expensive here is because of council tax ,

Try Craftsman by Sears. Made in the USA, guaranteed for life. If a handtool breaks, even from obvious abuse, it is replaced in any Sears store, no questions asked. There are other tool companies here with similar warranties and quality, but not for these prices.

They sure have some nice stuff, and at sensible prices.Sadly, they don't have a store in London

That stainless box was bought at a place called Sams Club for $650. Costco in the States were/are selling it for $614. Not seen it at any UK Costco though. Shame that .

I reckon if you were flying business or first you could get it back ok if you only had hand luggage otherwise, so long as its boxed and in two sections...

After the initial 20% price hikes snuck in by unscrupulous businesses?
