Might not be relevant to your boy, but an extremely annoying and chatty ex of mine organised herself a sponsered silence for a day, and raised just under 300 quid!!!

I guess the question is what do you mean by raise money? Do you mean "how does he devise a way of making his friends and family part with their money" ie sponsored somethings or "how does he earn the money" ie getting a job or carrying out jobs for other people, flogging stuff on ebay etc.

You could just give him a loan, on the promise of repayment in later life...

At 15 i'd say get a milk round. Pays far more than a paper round and a little hard work never did anyone any harm.

My god Tonkster, for one so wise, you're cynic & a half!

Oh and see you and those bloody brackets!

As for the original question, I'd tend to agree with the aforementioned old cynic about getting a wee job of some sort.

If youve got a drive go around the neighbours or put a sign up outside your house to clean cars, you might have to be pushy at first to get custom.
First hoover the inside, then washdown the outside(dont want to get electricuted with all that water laying around)
Make sure you do a thorough job and they will come back the following saturday.

He could offer to buy people the latest Jap gadget (look on the net for these) and agree a 10% 'delivery' charge.

A local girl needed to raise funds for a trip to Africa. Three local government male workers did a sponsored leg wax to help raise funds and it proved pretty successful.

Paint railings, I did it when i was 14, £2 an hour, we painted about 2 miles of the bloody things..

Then they realised we had only painted one side

and made us do the other side, and we got paid even more!

When I was at school I used to occasionally go and tally for car cleaning business etc.

As long as you are comfortable with him knocking on doors theres a few bob to be made from taking a bucket, sponge and shammy round the neighbourhood.

Another thing I used to do was collect paper (newspaper/mags etc) and take to be recycled. Many years ago I think we got about £15 a tonne... It would obviously involve some fairly weighty transporting in your car/trailer however!

Last one. I used to clean in a chinese take away kitchen - every sunday. Took about three hours to go through the lot and even back then they paid me a fiver an hour!!!

Good luck and I hope he enjoys the trip at the end of it!
