Nope, me too.

Avoid sauces, they tend to salt them up better than the A38.

Although it tends to be Monosodium Glutomate, not the common table salt we usually think of. Interesting(ish) fact about MSG, it's a self-limiting flavour enhancer, i.e. once you get to the ideal quantity, adding more does not further enhance the flavour... however it is a very good laxative in large quantities, making it great for practical jokes and wind-ups

Ditto.

Actually, I find the effects of high levels of MSG only take an hour or so to manifest!

I have been "loading" with junk food over the last week because I'm giving it up all together for 2006.

I gave up drinking the year before, so I know I can do it.
But it ain't gonna be easy seeing as I work in a shopping centre with a massive "food court."

its not the salt but the MSG

monosodium glutamate.

symptoms range from increased heartrate, irregular heartbeat to thirst to swollen hands and feet.

its the MSG that makes it taste so yummy!!!!

Yea exactly.. my local chinese when I lived in the US was damn good until they changed cooks and proclaimed a non-MSG menu (keeps the health-nazis at bay) it tasted like wet cardboard. I told them why they would lose my custom and they since then pumped up the chemicals just in my take-away.

..could explain my fat fingers and hairy palms though.

I have a solution. Years back we lived in china and suffered from EXACTLY the same problem. It turn out they always put a flavour enhancer called MSG (monosoduim glutamate) in. They also put it in crisps. We always used to say to the restaurant that we didn;t want any MSG in our food, and the thirst and headaches went away

I'm allergic to MSG. It gives me eczema and various other unpleasant symptoms for a few days. Not nice stuff.

My mum got rushed to hospital in the US when she overdosed on MSG in a chinese meal

In Reading it's not the Chinese that have all shut, but the Fish and Chips - had to go all the way to Harry Ramsdens for a battered sausage
