I noticed yesterday that Telewest were broadcasting a quiz channel (www.quiz.tv I believe). So thought I'd take a look, the question looked quite simple but after an hour an a half nobody had given a correct answer(my answer was wrong too). Amazingly the same people kept phoning in and giving incorrect answers at 75p a call and calls are selected randomly from those on hold.

Just wondered if anyone had ever phoned in or had any joy?

I tried one one once but I just couldn't get through! I wish that I hadn't bothered when I found out how much it cost me in phone calls!

That's what I thought, they must be making an absolute packet.

I was watching one last night (albeit for 5 mins) and the presenters were saying that it's 75p per call and that to get through you had to stay on hold. So one would assume that the quiz co. make the money via the phone co. from people staying on the line even though the caller is not charged any more than the 75p?

Yeah that's what I assumed too, f knows how many people phoning in and on hold but only 1 getting through, the same people did seem to get back through so there must be half a chance of getting on air. I'm still intrigued what the answer was to this one as it seemed that you had to be a 3-2-1 Ted Rogers type bloke to work it out.

Is that the same channel as is on Sky with the animated Jack Russell in the corner of the screen?

Annoying mutton dressed as lamb women trying to make a simple question sound interesting by repeating it over and over in different tones. Do they get paid much?

Calls cost 75p/min, not all calls will be sucessful but all calls will be charged

No I don't think that was the one. I've just been googling for any sites that show the answers but can't find anything. Most of the comments that I read all said the same that the questions are phrased in such a way that there are many possble answers and one bloke even likened them to Ted Rogers type questions. Every site said that they should be banned as they're a massive rip off.

I'm waiting for some consumer affairs watchdog to have a go at these channels.

Yeah defo, they should be stopped but I wish I'd thought of the idea first, they're so many gullible people around.

Apparently they'll start broadcasting at 2 o'clcok today, see the link at the top of the page for the channel no's. I'll post the question up and see if anyone can guess the answer.

Funnily enough the interesting questions are the ones which show road signs and you have to say which of the signs are correct. Some of them when you have a look are one pixel out therefore classed as a "wrong sign."

Spotted it as a ripoff right from outset.

This channel lets you enter for free - yes for free - on their website (very small print on screen!) You go onto the website, enter your details, then if you get through, they ring you - and it doesn't cost you a penny! But you are limited to 50 tries per day. We tried it a few times, reckon we got through about 1 in 3 tries, then out of those, we actually got to give our answer twice. Wrong answer of course, I've given up trying to work out how they arrive at the correct answers - but if anyone is tempted, do it on the web!

please read the (very) small print at the bottom of the screen - your chances of winning are very remote indeed.

For example some will allow a free web entry - which means you do not pay for the phone call - yet people still phone in!

You have far more chance with the lottery.

There is no a, b or c in "the story"...
