I nominate my freind Who lives in Cyprus.

Dec 24th: His granddad died.
Dec 25th: The 300? year old house he spent the last two years restoring burnt down, just before he and his family were going to move in.

Thats a bad xmas...

It sure does. There was the family of five wiped out just before Christmas when all the Christmas lights on the house caught fire. There was the little girl killed just before Christmas when some scrote driving dangerously mounted the pavement and ran her down. Then we had the 11 year old lad that was sexually assaulted at gunpoint yesterday. Perspective indeed.

I know thats sad and a terrible time of year for it to happen but if he is a grandad I assume he is reasonably old and if he had a good innings its not so bad, we all have to go sooner or later.

Im not being flippant just looking on the bright side

Oh yeah, the old boy had a fantastic life, he was from the circus and lived out his later years tending elephants at knowsley safari park! He was 'the elephant man.' the stongest 80yr old I ever came across..but wirey Top bloke he was.

My ex had a pretty poor time of it over Xmas. Father died Sunday before, funeral on Thursday. Big argument with me on Friday. Birthday stuck in Yorkshire away from friends on London on Saturday. No idea about the rest of the weekend due to arguement above means communication is now impossible.

My plans had to change at last minute but I ended up with a fairly relaxed Xmas which is what I needed.

And there was a 16 year old girl killed in a road crash on Christmas day aswell

On a personal level it was my second Christmas on my own but ime big enough and ugly enough to look after myself and make a go of it being the fighter i am,i always find stuff to do.

I have one fantastic attribute,my health, also a piece of luck which is more than those mentioned have had,i know it sounds slushy but aslong as the children of this world had a good one then ime happy, you only get one childhood.

Not on the same scale but:
Xmas eve: wife gets sickness bug
Xmas day: Me and 4 year old daughter get same bug, wifes best-friends husband ( after telling her xmas morning) leaves her and her two children aged 4 oh and Sky breaks.
Boxing day: cancelled (13 people)re-arranged for friday.

An amazingly similar pattern to last year.......but we're all(touch wood) better now and I know there are plenty of stories a million times worse than that out there, there but for the Grace of God etc.,.... and we did go to panto to see Snow White today and it so happened that Linda Lusardi was one of the leads, so not all bad!

Not as bad as some examples here, but...
After nothing for months, buyer of my house decides she wants in before christmas, wife and I pick up cold/flu bug around same time. Spend a week trying to organise storage and removals for our stuff, end up doing it ourselves with a flu. Cannot move into property we are renting because people haven't moved out yet. Develop toothache that requires root canal work, and then extraction the following day. Spend a week putting a van full of stuff in storage here and another one there etc Exchange contracts 1 week before christmas, complete 3 days later. Get money transferred, then get demand for money as there "has been an error", develop an ear infection about the same time. Lose the will to live due to exhaustion. Spend the whole of christmas smiling at friends and relatives while having what feels like a red hot screwdriver jammed in my ear.

Finally get my hands on some amoxycillin when the local surgery reopens.
Not been the best I've ever had.......

23rd Dec - Great aunt complains of back pain then keels over and carks it at the ripe old age of 43
24th Dec - Wake up with the mother of all colds - or it could have been man flu
25th Dec (am) - Put my back out, shaving of all bloody things.
25th Dec (pm) - The in-laws dogs get let out, they run onto the M5 one of them gets hit and killed.
26th Dec - Trouble free - wahey
27th and 28th Dec - Go to Ikea, once to get stuff, once to get stuff that I forgot the first time - this was the most traumatic part of the entire season.
