I have been ofered a Longines watch by a ftienmd of a friend for £200, with a claim he paid £500 a few months ago and now needs the cash in a hurry. There is no box and no certificate but there are instructions.

I have agreed to take a look at it, but to be frank don't know what to look for in a fake. Anybody any ideas?

Longines are a mid-range brand. The value all depends upon the model. Do you have a pic/model name?

If so I could give you an idea of if it's a fair deal or not.

As for spotting a fake - very difficult if it as a good one unless you really know your watches. Longines are not as often faked as more prestigious brands, so that could be a good sign.

Hope that helps.

Don't let this sway you, but, you know what they say: "If something sounds too good to be true, then it usually is..."
