The new Marcos really is a test of how many people want a simple traditional sports car.....

Nope, only saw the Top Gear re-run last night and I have to say even back last year when I clapped eyes on it at the NEC it is one lovely car, does everything a TVR should do with a more reliable motor.
I love the styling, the noise and the obvious sideways action!

I don't think there is anything wrong in this, what would be sad is if I bought a TVR just because it was a TVR, not what the car actually does for you.

I would have to have another Tam (with a 4ltr S spec lump), the Marcos looks great and modern at the front, but from the back, it looks like an old '70's MG, OK for the flat cap brigade who relish the prospect of talking drivel to any unsuspecting 'victim' for hours, I guess

I would be tempted by the Marcos, but the Sag is just sex on wheels. I'd have to (a) rob a bank and then (b) do some serious test driving before I made that decision.

However, if TVR did bring out another V8-engined car (either own-build or an LSx etc) there would be no question which one I'd go for.

While it wasn't quick round the track for whatever reason(s) (e.g. cold surface), it definitely showed off good handling (which is seperate from raw grip). As a few people on here remarked, one of the most entertaining laps to actually watch .
Am with you on what car does (or "is". If I was to chase pure performance I'd end back on a motorbike or maybe a Noble or Atom or ultralight 7 a like...

Was'nt over keen on the Marcos to be honest - looks were not as good as a Tiv IMHO, it did break down several times apparently, and the performance was lower than most Tivs.

If i was to get a brand new TVR it would be................the forthcoming Cerbera replacement

The Martoss looks ok from the front (because its a TVR crib) but from the back it looks pants.

Hi Podie.. Long time no speak!

I really liked the Marcos.. I have to admit i love the Sagaris' look and the raw aggression it promotes...
The thing for me is i love my Chim cause of its noise and how complete as a sports car it feels.
Yes it could be quicker.. Just so i still get that fear feeling every time i press the 'loud pedal' but for me the balancing point is that the mechanicals are simple enough and proven enough that they can be maintained by a large number of mechanice and the cost of running isnt totally beyond my modest income.

For me, id want a Sagaris or Tuscan with a more 'mainstream' engine!

Can't see what the Marcos has over the TVR other than the engine to be honest(not interested in debating the S6 saga).
To me looks wise both inside and outside it has missed the mark by a big chunk but as I haven't seen it in the flesh I stand to be corrected if I am wrong. The current crop of TVRs particularily the spectacular Sagaris all look better in their own way than any Marcos and I am sure that will translate to sales. Any differences in performance at this level are only of any use for pub talk and possibly trackdays.
Besides, it seems a lot of buyers are more influenced by numbers and what the car mags say rather than having an opinion of their own so we shall have to wait and see what the mags decide.
