Handed over 7 x £20 notes to pay for a Christmas present today and by the time the checkout "operative" had finished holding each one up to the light, checked the silver foil and rubbed the ink, I was beginning to feel "guilty" of something!!

I did retaliate though with the £10 note given as change by doing exactly the same before I accepted - I think I got what is termed an "old fashioned" look!

Reminds me when I sold my R.S.Turbo to a bloke representing a national garage chain, a buyer. He quite rightly gave the 6 month old car a right going over and then onto the paperwork for the same thing. We agreed the deal and he handed me a 'Bankers Draft' for said sum. When I told him to accompany me to the bank for them to OK the draft he got well sniffy. Had to remind him that he had spent 2 hours O.King the car I want half hour doing the same for the draft. Happy days

my favourite rule: if a cashier is rude to you, ask them to thoroughly check the authenticity of the banknotes they give you back as change, works especially well if there is a large queue.

Schhhh, I am in no way affiliated with Dirk Diggler not now, not ever

He's a porn star and I think it's a cool name, that's all. Someone else has got it on PH and never posts

When I worked in a pub (years ago now), the odd customer would offer his/her money on the bar, rather than place it in my hand. Without fail, they always held their hand out for the change. Without fail, I put it on the bar - in a wet spot if I could.

Just got back from a shift in a bar, that is also one of my pet hates, I also dump it on the bar and let them figure it out!
