Any Z4 Owners Out There?
Discussion
We seem to have much discussion about M-cars, 3 & 5 series - but very little on the Z4; quite possibly because there are many fewer Z4's on the road.
The Z4 isn't quite as highly rated as a Boxster, the looks are challenging (however they grow on you - when you see the car everyday) but as a second hand buy they are incredibly good value (you can pick up a two year old for thousands less than a same age Boxster, and possibly less than an S2000).
I find mine a great drive, with a great goody count (thanks to the previous owner who ticked most of the options boxes) and that great creamy smooth straight six. Ride is little harsh, but it's a sportcar not a limo so I prefer it that way.
The Z4 may look like the runt of the litter, but underneath there's a great car for not much more than new MX-5 money. Overlooked and under-rated in my opinion!

Check out www.Z4um.com for lots of Z4 lurve.
Hated the cars look to start with (still have the Z3), but it's grown on me, specially the coupe. I guess this was because it was sooo different.
Still can't believe they've only just signed off the M car though - bloody crime!
Test drove a high spec 3.0 at launch and found it very harsh ride (again compared to the 3) and things were falling off it. Handled fine (it has a strut brace as standard - I think BMW learned a lesson with the Z3) and I found the sport button just made the throttle seem too sensitive. They also jacked the price up significantly, which I think was a big mistake when it was head to head with the P******.
Decided to put the money into supercharging the Z3, coilovers, 18" Alpina's, brake upgrade s etc.. and dropping a few jaws on track days and RWYB.
Glad you enjoy the Z4.

Another Alpina Z4 owner here. Very quick car.
We've been discussing it on this thread..

I love the Z4...and DoctorD has for me the perfect "production" Z4 - the CSL wheels are soooo much better than the factory Alpina ones.
Only thing I'm not sold on is the interior TBH, the ones I have seen have seemed very cheap / plasticky, but then I am comparing it to a TVR, so to be expected maybe.

I love my Z4. Had it 9 months now and it's fab. The ride is pretty hard with the runflat tyres on so I have ditched them i favour of standard tyres and a can of tyre foam in the boot. The car now runs much better and doesn't rearrange my fillings all the time.
I hope that by the time I want to swap this one the Z4M will be available as a 2nd hand buy. 343bhp in a car that small has got to be good news. I don't find the interior plasticky at all.
