I've just heard one of my female colleagues discussing someone who has been taken sick and she described him as "knocking on a bit"

Another colleague responded asking how old he is and the other replied "43"

I'll be 43 in 7 years and I'd hate to be thought of as some sought of over the hill dinosaur

What do you consider as the representative age of an "old timer"?

When they start acting old. My Granparents are 65 and 69 and they dont seem old to me cos they do everything they want to do infact they have just completed a diving course at their local pool and are now in the Red Sea on a diving holiday.

Whereas there is a lady who lives in my street and she is roughly 40 ish and she acts as if she should be in a home dresses neck high buttoned up shirts and cardies and calf length skirts doesnt go out and basically is a hermit.

Mrs Fish.

Can you pls close this one too.

It wasn't meant to be a jolly jape or a wittisism (sp?) related to memory, there appeared to be a little tech problemo.

Sorry

At 42 I assure you I am not over the hill....! But when I get my breath back, I am sure I will reach the top eventually.

A lot of younger men suprise me how unfit and fat they are which also goes for women as well. So its not the age that counts but the state of mind and the ability to do things no matter what your age is.

I asked my youngest daughter: at what age does middle-age start. The looked thoughtful and asked "does that mean that someone is noether old nor young?" "Yes", I replied. To which she said, "about 20"

I'm 45 and my little boy assures me I'm not old. He loves me though.

I was talking to one of the girls at work today, she was saying how old her dad acted, I asked how old he was? she said 40, she nearly choked when someone else told her I was 42. I don't feel much different to when i was 25, just a little better off.

One of the checkout people at Sainsbury's asked me if I could prove I was over 21.

You're old when that makes your day

But not so old if people still occasionally ask even if they do need glasses

Putting it into a work context......

Anyone who upon having to consider a new development in what or how something is done responds with " Nah we tried that in xxxx (insert year) and it was rubbish. Never work that will."

Of course it helps if they are completely ignoring any technological, sociological organisational developments since the year xxxx which might make the proposal feasible.

Of course such an old timer can be any age. In other words its not about the numbers on your birth certificate but the attitude test prevails. Which explains why some days I'm a thirteen year old hooligan, or so Mrs FiF tells me.
