PILOTS: Any airfields near Wareham, Dorset??
Discussion
Best I can see on the flight sim is EGHS (Henstridge), EGHA (Compton Abbas) or EGHH (Bournemouth).
On a quick flyaround I can see what I take to be Bovington tank test area but no airstrip.
Maybe the number of military bits down there precludes hobby fliers?
There was one straight bit down by the coast from Bovington that I thought might be a strip but I can't make out any buildings so maybe disused?

Hows it going, did you find one yet, or are you still up there???![]()
- scary thought! Even more worrying that a pilot would contact PH for advice in those circs!! Nope, this is for next week. I need to collect a new puppy and will be flying into the UK from Jersey.
ETA: thanks for the other suggestions - I'll check them out.

You need to check this out. I am sure you can bring animals on to the mainland but I think they need to go through an approved airport, and with an approved handling agent.

What sort of puppy is it?
Chocolate lab
No control of animals between UK and Jersey (luckily). Private plane to pick up dog is by far the best way and how we've done it before. Half and hour with the puppy on your lap is infinitely better than an hour in the hold of a passenger plane (not advisable at this time of year), or up to 10 hours in the cardeck of a ferry!
PS. Not me flying, but it will help when persuading my mate if I know where he's supposed to be going!

If it were me (and I'm not a pilot) I'd head for Hurn as the others are all muddy fields in the middle of nowhere. Hurn (sorry, Bournemouth International) is an easy drive to and from Wareham.
I'd take the muddy field every time. Bournemouth will charge a fortune
for landing and handling, and whoever it is bringing your puppy
will end up waiting on a portakabin with nothing but a coffee
machine that produces some of the vilest filth I've ever tasted.
Plus there's nowhere for the puppy to go outside and do what
puppies do. The drive up to Compton Abbas is a bit of a bind,
but a much nicer atmosphere all round (and the avgas is cheap!)
