Type 72 111S S2

Did lotus make the S2 111S in 'type 72' form? I've seen a 111S type 25.

I thought the type 72 had the colour scheme changesetc, but used the base spec 120 bhp engine, not the 111s vvc (unlike the type 25). Bogie's car - formerly a 260 bhp turbo-technics supercharged k- series now sports a 300 bhp SC Honda. However, this being the point, I think it started life as as S2 type 72 with 120 bhp - black with the gold trim JPS style. Might be worth asking him.

Lotus did not produce a T72 with the VVC engine. You may however find some T72's with the 135 bhp upgrade as this was available from Lotus at about this time. HTH

nope - the Type72 came out before the 111s was launched so there was only the 135 upgrade available

Thanks bogie- I thought yours had not started with a vvc. Wasn't the 135 a factory upgrade option of the base engine spec. I know it did appear in the 135R as standard, but again I think that engine spec was also slightly different.

Confusing. Suffice to say, Bogie's car (as gleaned from his posts) does have a standard roof I think, ?doors as well, but otherwise not even close.

yeah the 135 was the very expensive Lotus (PTP) upgraded head....£3.5K for a head + exhaust ! ...I didnt bother at the time

yes - my car is in at the mo for some more cosmetic work - Exige S2 clam, new tail lights, de-seamed panels, mesh all round etc ...once its done the only things that havnt been replaced are indeed doors, roof and chassis !
