As it says.

I thought it was all right. Not enough viewers, apparently.

Distinguishable from BBC News 24 only by the fact of adverts from entities other than the BBC getting in the way of the news sparse gibberish.

Like all the other news channels. It tries to stretch 30 minutes worth of news into an hour and then repeats it over and over again.

When really news worthy events happen and they switch to live coverage of a terrorist attack, oil fire or a washed up footballers final few days, they stretch a the equivilant of a 5 minute bullitin into many hours of some reporter standing infront of a bit of police tape, talking bollox.

Coupled with the fact that the information is usually found on PH first in a more accurate form, they arnt my favorite information source

The good thing about 24 hour news is that you can dip into it when you need it, without having to wait for the prescribed 6pm, 9pm or whatever. It's not really designed to be watched all day.

It would have been something if they didn't follow the same format as BBC and Sky news. eg. Main news then sport then weather. Not everyone is interested in football. It would be nice to flick onto anther news channel and here some stories that are not headline news.
But no! twenty past the hour on all three channels football news.

Actually it appears the final death throes started when they gave half of the bandwidth to ITV4.

So I think we're saved!

If an independent broadcaster cannot make it pay I wonder how much of our money the BBC is shovelling down the toilet to support its News and digital channels ?

But BBC News 24 is the UK end of BBC World News, which at least gives an alternative viewpoint to the world of news other than bloody CNN.

IMHO 24 hour news is only useful when there's a major catastrophe going on.

Otherwise I like my news to be fixed in time - gives some anchorage points to the day. People need patterns; 24 hour everything isn't good I think.

It is useful to dip into when convenient to you as mentioned. Find it good to watch when down the gym.

Not surprised it's going what with BBC News 24, Sky News and all the others.

I can't stand ITN News either - it's the Daily Mail of the TV news programmes.
