Hi all,

was driving from London to Sheffield yesterday morning. Despite all the madness and crazy driving and crashes and lane closures made it Sheffield a scant 5 hours after leaving London. Left London at 6AM for a 10AM meeting in Sheffield. Not bad for 150 mile journey

the road up was wet, slight drizzle and had the wiper on constantly to keep the windows clean.

Anyway had my meeting came back to the car and I nearly did not recognise it. The car was covered in black soot / tar like substances. The windows were all blacked, the lights were all blacked out. The car was covered in the stuff. It was like I driven through and oil shower. Anyway a quick wash later and the car was fine again.

Anyone else had anything similiar ?

Yep..... except I was on a m/cycle!
Look at it this way, at least it's forced you to wash all the salt off

I think it might be the new salt mixes they are using in some places - it's got suger beet by-products or something in it and my car has been well and truly slimed after a couple of hundred miles at the weekend.
