Chili with chocolate...
Discussion
Has anybody tried making chili and putting chocolate in it?
I just tried it, I put about 2/3rds of a 45g bar of plain chocolate in but I can't really taste it. I wonder if I need more if I need to use some unsweetened plain chocolate (didn't have any to hand unfortunately). Does anyone else do this and can they reccomend a chocolate that is good for this purpose?

You're nuts you are......chilli and chocolate...yuk....
But my sister brought some chilli chocolate over from Germany a month or so ago - I *think* it was Lindt, if not it was a similar brand of good chocolate. I refused to taste it but she reckoned it was really nice and proceeded to stuff the whole bar!

the *only* chocolate to use in a chilli con carne con choco is plain chocolate with at least 70% cocoa solids, preferably 85%
Don't use too much - chocolate will give a rich gloss to the sauce rather than a major taste addition :>
Green & Blacks is the way forward for all things chocolate...trust me...

or montezuma's, or Kshocolate (sp?)

'Chocolate' (in the form of a luxury drink) was consumed in large quantities by the Aztecs: the drink was described as 'finely ground, soft, foamy, reddish, bitter with chilli water, aromatic flowers, vanilla and wild bee honey'.
