I used this stuff on my old BMW company car - worked brilliantly, far better than the competition.

Anybody know if I'll be OK to use it on my black alloys?

Cheers, Rob.

I posted about my black alloys turning silver a couple of days ago and somebody mentioned that acidic alloy cleaners tend to do alot of harm.

My suggestion, and I have done this for years it does work very well, is have one mega-clean of the wheels, get them perfect (refurb if necessary), then just wash them front AND back (by putting your hand through the spokes) once a week with warm water+car shampoo. Works perfectly, and no acidic angry stuff to potentially damage your wheels!

Wonder Wheels ... 5 Litre bulk pack from Costco for 10 quid :UP :UP

Used monthly for last 6 months on my 8 spoke smoked alloys, no noticable lightening effect - should I save the dentist bills and try it on my teeth ?

Yep - I try to get the whole wheel(s) clean once a week. But the problem is tar spots and the like soon start messing things up. What do you guys do about that?

PS: I even cleaned them in the hail last week - how sad IS THAT!

Isn't this the stuff Richard Hammond from Topgear is using? Or was that wonder teeth?

Agree good stuff but not as good as Comma wheel cleaner.
After cleaning them polish with cheap car polish, keeps tar off and they are easier to clean next time.

If its as good as their shampoo and polish, then its gonna be good. Not so sure about the price though

I just use soap and water - not for the sake of the wheels...but the discs n hubs....std Lotus discs have an anti-rust coating...that WW and other products strip off in a couple of washes...so your brand new discs are rusty within weeks.

Use Alloy Wax on your wheels and you never need wonder wheels etc - just hose the wheels down and thats it - a bit of a pain to get the wheels clean to start with..but then just wax em every 6-12 weeks (depending on washing) and never use acidic cleaners again

JUst oil them - that keeps the disks from rusting

Yeah but look at those rusty discs!

No seriously, that stuff is soooooo corrosive, why bother? It can corrode the discs and wheels if a tiny bit is left on, or if it is on too long, just use soap and water.

I've tried soap and water - sure they would work if I cleaned them every week but I just don't have the time.

soap n water, then wheelwax...just washes off real easy then - 2 or 3 goes with the wonder wheels and the hubs will look like they are 50K mile old ...I know...I did it on 2 sets of new discs before realising....!

Not sure what WheelWax is, but I just use the same wax I'd use on the bodywork. Get the wheels spotless, then give them a good waxing once a year. Wax 'em, then buff up, them wax 'em again. If they are well enough waxed a quick wash with soapy water will get them clean no matter how much tar and brake dust have landed on them.

I used to use WW but found over time that it stripped the laquer and top coat off my wheels. Yes, they were clean, but each time they got cleaned this way they got dirty again faster and were more difficult to clean the next time. I won't touch the stuff now, I much prefer to have my wheels squeakly clean and smelling of coconut thank you.

I'm thinking of changing my 15" front wheels for 16" ones, as I can't get my hand through the 15" ones far enough the clear the rims right across their width.
