I'm buying a 'normal' car (Audi A4, 1.8, 1996) to go with my 'abnormal' V8S
I'm finding insurance quotes vary enormously (ie from £345 - £800+).

as anyone found a good sensible quote out there? I'm 41 and will be living in Wilts...
A Manning insure the TVR, but the cheapest they've offered is £404 - surely I can do better than that?

I've always used Sureterm Direct. Cracking quotes on my last Tiv and my lass' Smart rollerskate. 0870 2020230. Good bunch of people.

It's highly likely that the normal car is being quoted with no no claims bonus, as most companies will not let you use the same NCB across 2 cars ?.

Mr. T's point is a good one, I have 4 policies, each with different no-claims bonuses, which can sometimes irritate me at renewal time(s)!

We used our existing NCB on the Rollerskate, and Sureterm found me a policy that gave me full, non-transferable NCB on the Tiv. Limited mileage, of course.

Try classicline for the TVR, I use them and I pay £320 including recovery, with NO no claims and a 5000 miles limit. I use Directline for the 'Normal car' and have always found them to be cheaper than anyone else!

Best to call a few though as everyones different they all use different loading for different jobs/postcodes!

Thanks for the replies chaps.
I already have TVR ins through A Manning and have found them to be competitive over the years. I did try Classicline but found that when I needed to add another 5000 miles to the policy in the same year, the cost was enormous!

Anyway, just for fun, here are some of the quotes for 'normal car' insurance I received yesterday:-

Norwich Union: £653
Churchill: £374
Elephant: 345
the AA: £403
Directline: 453
Budget: 535
Admiral: 354
Sureterm: 450

Few more to try today...

Just got the best quote from Bell (part of Admiral) of £327
Did this by going to www.insuresupermarket.com/motor
and putting inmy details. It then searches lots of different insurers for you.
Pretty good!
