I love the stuff

Thought about it and thought I may take that extra step and try making it myself.

Has anyone tried making it at home??

Can anyone recommend any books, good online suppliers of products (base food required to make them as well as equipment) so I can start making this stuff at home.

Or am I just simply mad for trying it??

This looks like a good place to start
www.sushilinks.com/books.html

Never tried it myself, not a great fan of fish raw or cooked

Went on a course in September, had great fun and learnt alot.

Supermarkets carry alot of stuff nowadays, but www.mountfuji.co.uk is good.

Yes - I bought a Sushi kit from Waitrose, bought the ingredients it said you need on the back, and then followed the instructions. It was somewhat of a disaster, but tasted ok.

How does a Japanese Prawn act when faced with being on the Sushi menu?

Actually I always thought that sushi was the flavoured (vinegar I think) rice and the fish is Sashimi.....

But I could be wrong...

You can get all the stuff you need at larger Tesco branches (mush as it sticks in my throat to say it).

My eldest daughter is really into it and is knocking out Jap meals all the time. I think she needs to make her sticky rice a bit more cohesive somehow but otherwise it's great.

The raw fish is Sashimi, the rice-based dishes are Sushi, the rice itself is sushi rice.

I must admit, sashimi is my most favourite food.. i could eat it all day long, especially with the wasabi/soy sauce mix

Nearest place to me that sells it is about 40 miles though
