Not got one but they sit on a nice Chippendale chair rather than a stool from Ikea.

We used them: www.bespokeinteriors.com

Very good.

Probably lots and lots.

I design, make and fit kitchens and my price range (including granite worktops) is £10,000 to £18,000
I would confidently expect Mark Wilkinson kitchens to be at least twice as much

The factory and showroom is just down the road from us here in Melksham. The quality is superb and yes they cost lots and lots.

HI rich 1231, I'm in the same position as singlecoil & offer a completely bespoke service for all interior work including specialist joinery. Mark Wilkinson is at the very top end of the market (now owned by Smallbone by the way) & produces some very good work although at a cost!
Nothing that a skilled craftsman can't cope with though.
Mail me if you you would like more info.

I had a Mark Wilkinson kitchen in my last house. The absolute dogs!!! Solid Oak, doors that fitted prfectly inside the carcasses not over the top of them....absolutely gorgeous. Then again, at £50K it should have been.

Mark Wilkinson, reassuringly fu**ing expensive!!!

Edited to say....Rich watch out for the front end though, does not take knocks too well !!

Looked at them about 2 years ago, had the money to spend on one, went into the showroom, looked about, got ignored, left and vowed to get the local joiner to build bespoke for us in a similar style to the design of theirs that we liked.

Then we split up.

VERY expensive, as garyhun said - looking at around £50k, depends how big your kitchen is!!

Nice stuff, but nothing a good Architect and joiner can't do better.

We've just had a kitchen done in the "style of", it cost correspondingly less, and I doubt that a layman could tell the difference. If you are close to W london, e-mail me and I will put you in touch with the boys that did it for us..

His kitchens are the top end. Bloody gorgeous and expensive.
Nice bloke and knew him from when he first started designing, building and installing tailor mades. Built a great tree house in his back garden and got grief over it from planning

On roughly the same topic, can anyone recommend a kitchen design and fit company around Leeds ? A northern equivalent of singlecoil or chris&chris would be very handy.

We had a quote off them about 5 years ago which came out at about £50,000 all in. Didn't go with them in the end as found a local joiner to build ours, but I do remember asking Mark Wilkenson kitchens what the Mark Wilkenson Cream Paint was that they used on their painted kitchens (in case I needed to touch it up in the future), and the lady in the shop went very quiet, leaned over and whispered 'it's Dulux magnolia. Having just been quoted £50K and given a long explanation of how good and exclusive their kitchens were, I found it amusing that the paint colour was good old magnolia (oh yeah, and the £50K painted kitchen doors were made of mdf too!).

You're going to laugh at this, but we do quite a few painted kitchens, and have experimented extensively with paints such as Fired Earth and Farrow and Ball, and the results are that the best paint for kitchens is.................Dulux. The others all mark too easily and tend to be quite thin
Doors expand and contract quite a bit, and on normal wooden kitchens this is taken care of in the design of the door which incorporates expansion joints. On a painted kitchen these joints would quickly show up as cracks in the paint, so the best material for painted kitchen doors is....................MDF. The MDF we use is veneered with ash, the grain of which shows through the paint and is a very attractive effect.

How in the hell can a company (I don't care how bespoke they are!) justify charging 50k for a kitchen?

Take a look at The various mags around, kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms etc and take a look at the kitchens in there...

50k is middle of the road.. but Im not spending it, Im looking at a house that is specced to be built with one, hence the interest...

10-20k yeah, I can appreciate that.

It's just the extra 30k that made me go

Out of interest Rich, have you had a look at the kitchens in the show homes etc? What did you think of 'em?

No Show homes.. Been told its a Mark Wilkinson kitchen, go to Local dealer and have whatever I want, the spec on the house is very high.

Thats if we go for the house, as I cannot make my mind up which one to get.
