Just been reading about woman in fear in society and they point out such statistics as;
95% Dont feel safe on the streets at night.
65% Dont feel safe in the daytime.
23% Have had their drink spiked.
91% Scared by "Boy Racers",with 37% being road rage victims.
99% Want more police at night.
73% Scared they may be raped.
87% worry about being mugged.

,ime not sure i agree whole heartedly with this as i do see quite a few woman on their own at nights, and although ime a bit concerned by the site of a woman walking down a dark road they seem to look OK about it.
Do woman really feel that threatened in real life or is the the tabloids trying to make a story?...ladies over to you.

The most common complaint i hear from woman when ime taking them home at night in my cab is,some men dont know how to show them respect, such as grabbing at their parts as they walk through a club or pub ,and when confronted about it think its all a joke.....Surely grabbing a womans backside wether its out on the street or in a bar is sexual assault and i can not understand why more is not done about it
Have a lot of blokes got no respect for woman?

Once again, as with any of these surveys, who comissioned it and what were the questions?

If I asked "Have you ever felt unsafe on the street at night?" then 95% would answer yes (I assume), I know I have on occasion.

If I asked "Do you regularly feel unsafe at night" most people would probably reply no.

If I asked "Do you always feel unsafe at night" then a small percentage would say Yes, everyone else, No.

There are lies, there are damn lies, there are statistics and then there is a whole new category for "Surveys".

The question here in Plymouth is whether women have any respect for blokes, but that has been discussed already in the drunken rape thread.

Exactly. ignore it. The people behind it will have a vested interest in some form. Either to start another media campaign, OR some charity trying to gets in name in the paper in the same way Amnesty International managed to a few weeks earlier.
95% are scared to go out at night? Well, that far exceeds any chance of being attacked, so we have to ask ourselves where the sense of proportion has goner in UK society, and who is doing all the scaremongery?

What about the other half?

Doncha just get sick of the "results" of surveys?

Carefully craft a few questions and you can make what you want out of it!

EXAMPLE

Would you rather have a blue car or a red car?
Do cars emit carbon monoxide?
Does carbon monoxide do you any harm?

Result "EVERYONE DRIVING RED CARS IS A MURDERER"....

Parrot of doom

Fear of crime is disproportionately high compared to the chances of crime being committed.

I wonder if that means just puting a shot of voddie in someones drink? no doubt they want it to mean some sort of date rape drug thing, just to add some extra spice.

The survey was done by "More Magazine"

Editor Donna Armstrong said:
Young woman dont feel protected in Britain today,,at night or even in broad daylight.
"And they are sick of being told it's all their own fault.
They have a basic human right to be safe regardless of wether they are wearing a short skirt, and they want tougher sentencing and safer streets(dont we all),they are taking precautions and doing their best to protect themselves but the law isnt doing enough to protect them"

The whole thing will be rubbish statistics. The questions will have been similar to:

Do you feel scared when walking alone at night in an unfamiliar area?

When it should have been written.

The last time you were walking at night what was emotion you experianced most?
A)Content
B)concerned about your safety
C)cant remember
D)Scared shiteless

This is particularly poignant because only last week and the preceding week I was stalked by a complete stranger - long story, won't go into details. I've reported him twice now and if he does it again I'm to dial 999 and they've flagged my name to attend without using the siren. I'm *very* concerned he doesn't find out where I work/live and the police are taking it seriously (amazingly!).

It's not the first time I've been followed.

If I knew self-defence I'd feel safer but finding a suitable course where it's not martial arts based is very difficult.

I read that too - almost comical that of all the tests carried out in the study not one girl who was 'spiked' with date rape drugs tested positive for any trace!

Especially when the size of the said object represents the size of the owners manhood
