During The Depression, Texan brothels ( which were, and still are,legal) allowed customers to pay for the services provided with chickens rather than cash. That's why Americans often refer to a brothel as a "Chicken Ranch".

Hold on most of the unemployment in Germany is in the East due to the closure of the old industries.

Bit like the North of England in the 1980's.

Discribing the Unemployed as Layabouts is a bit harsh many have been left behind by the new economy oweing to lack of skills.

TBH I agree with this, from a commercial pov it's good for the brothel and from a social pov it's good for as there might well be some who couldn't have afforded to go there before who might have considered other means of gratifying themselves...

So if per-chance you were one legged and just been sacked from your job at the shoe shop you would very quickly find yourself in credit with these ladies!

Although still being against the law in many places 'ladies of independant means' are expected to pay their taxes. Minus a quid for condoms, hankies and a glass of squash, not much left from a tenner. That won't last long.

I would soon find myself having to advertise for staff at the local job center.
