re-painting white houses?
Discussion
My house is shortly going up for sale but the outside is looking a little bit sorry for itself and could do with sprucing up before potential buyers are shown around. Its a white building and I assumed it was just a case of masonry paint. However, having a word with a guy that was painting a fence for the neighbour (and trying to bung him £100 to paint my house
) he said the exterior has a lifetime promise and it needs cleaning rather than painting. Any thoughts? Is it a case for hiring a hire pressure washer from HSS?
Hopefully, cos the thought of playing with that puppy rather than a paintbrush is far more enticing.

Yes it's right that a lot of the modern rendered houses now have a coating that means it doesn't need re-painting. I think it is something to do with the advent of all these new housing developments where the houses are all render.
thanks for confirming the position. So is a pressure washer the way forward? Or a specialist cleaning substance? sugar soap?

I now have an image of you blowing the render clean off your house with a Karcher Truck Wash...
thats what I am afraid of. Last time I got hold of a decent power washer it was like giving a grenade to a baby. I solved the elderly neighbours problem of slipping on the slime on her slate patio slabs by taking off most of the top layer of stone and leaving her tripping over all the broken pieces.
