i have applied for an IT role at www.bentleycareers.com which i spent ages filling out, but i havent heard anything, not even confirmation, should i have heard something? or do they just let me know if i got it or not.

i really want to go there, as most of the other placements offered look boring.

does anybody in pistonheads have any placements to offer me as i am still looking for other options if this falls through.

look forward to seeing if anything comes up!

thanks

Can't help sorry but just wanted to say fingers crossed for you mate. A kid from my Uni got to go there as part of his marketing degree and understandably never wanted to come back!

Just got to sit and wait I guess. Sometimes no news is good news. I suppose you could ring up and make sure they received your application ok - wouldn't do any harm. Generally it takes a while to sift through all the applications.

How long have you waited for a reply?

I don't imagine they are in any hurry so would guess you will have to be patient. Won't do any harm to request confirmation of receipt though. I've been there and had a very interesting time so am sure you wopuld get job satisfaction.

I'll do one now and see if I get a confirmation through straight away...

I'd expect them to get back to you sooner or later, though, rather than saying nothing atall.

First rule of any large company, do not expect anything in a hurry.

They are fielding applications for the summer, expect to hear from them in February, interview April, job offer in May.

I'm not joking either.

yeah i can understand that, its just that i applied to peugeot citroen on the same day and that got back to me the very next day.

oh and i decided to see what that 1 email in my junkmail was, and hotmail in their infinite wisdom decided that an email from Bentley careers was junk.

They said that I have passed the first stage and that I will hear if I get to the second in February as you said.

Well good luck with the placement. Remember, it gives you a good opportunity to see how a large company works and give you a taste for how the world of work will treat you.

If I can offer you some advice - if you want to make some serious money, do an IT contract in China for the automotive companies there under a contract house like MSX.

There are Engineers making USD 200K pa on launches, even a starting salary would make a very good start towards a mortgage and something interesting to drive.
