...non-alcaholic lager?

Anyone know? Same question with reargds to decaffeinated coffee / tea.

It's the alcahol and the caffeine that's the whole point of the above.

Have just given up on caffeine - but still enjoy a nice cuppa tea and a deacf coffee is way less fattening than hot chocolate.

I used to be a cynic too!

So the driver can have a lager and 'theoretically' have the taste of a normal lager, but not the worry of being over the limit.

i sometimes have a de-caff coffee when i want the warmth and taste of coffee, bit not the caffeine, such as late at night just b4 bed..

It's to go with the "taste-free" food that McDonalds sell.

Some of it tastes okay. I sometimes have it when I'm the designated driver and can't face a 3rd pint of Coke in a row.

funnily enough, when the low/no alcohol beer first appeared they used to give me a headache from hell - so not pi$$ed and still a hangover!

I really don't like coke/orangy stuff etc but I do like ginger beer and most pubs sell cans of that if you fancy a change(cue ginger jokes)

I vote for Nicotine patches. I mean you are just pumping yourself full of the stuff that you are being addicted too?
Unless it is a ploy to keep selling you the same stuff in a different form

It's the taste thing that gets me, you wouldn't drink coffe or lager if it didn't have the drug content.

I've talked about this with a few people now and bar the odd exception that actually liked their first taste of beer/lager, most people, like mself, found it quite rank. Love the stuff now though, that first ice-cold beer after some hard physical work on a hot day is near perfection for me... Same with coffee, not many things I like more than some strong, freshly-brewed from fresh grounds, black coffee, but when I first started drinking the stuff I had to have it very milky and sugary to even begin to palate the stuff.

What I reckon happens (one of my drunken theories... actually, I have a few of them ) is you start off with a couple tries of this new beer/coffee stuff and find you don't like it. Not surprising, neither really actually taste very good at all. But then your body suddenly realises 'way-hey, there's drugs in these here drinks that make me feel good, lets have more of that please', and so you condition yourself into actually liking the stuff, even becoming a connoisseur! They still don't actually taste that great, but your brain makes you think they do so you have more.

Anyway, to finish my 'I haven't got much on at work at the moment' fuelled waffling, I reckon to take the drugs out of the drinks you wouldn't like if they didn't have those drugs in them in the first place and all you're left with is some foul-tasting rubbish you're brain is trying to tell you is good becuase it's after it's next 'hit'. Really, decaf coffe and no/low alcohol larger? Stop drinking that shite, it's not good and secretly you know it!

Some of the low/no alchohol lager at the moment doesn't taste too bad - at least on a par with some of the piddle you get serverd as a proper pint. That Carling CO2 is OK.

To be fair, i like a proper pint as much as the next punter, but no/low alchohol beer can be a good alternative, for example if you are driving, lunchtime beverage with your favourite curry, or if you simply want to pace yourself.

This reminds me of the prohibition simpsons episode where the owner of Duff beer states that people buy Duff for its great taste not its alcohol content...... 30 secs later he's hanging the closed sign on the factory gate...

I've got 4 nieces and a nephew who are all at the stage where they are starting to go out and drink (about 17) and only the lad drinks beer. The girls all drink sickly alchopops and won't touch grown-up drinks. I suspect that unless they are made to drink proper alcoholic drinks they will slide into a chav-like WKD induced lifestyle..... its a real worry.

Try it and find out yourself that there really is no point, it don't even taste like lager.
