Interesting that they strongly link STDs and paying for sex.
In as much as, I am guessing, that most (practically all?) unprotected sex blokes have is with 'regular' girls they meet at parties, clubs etc who are on the pill and up for a one night stand, rather than with prostitutes who tend to insist that the bloke wears a condom. ( yes I know that some STDs are orally transmitted and some can get past a condom, but the main risk is sex without one )
A triumph of morality over fact?

the recent massive increase in HIV in the UK is virtually all down to immigration from Africa ..... not mentioned by much of the media.
"The study authors, from Imperial and University College London, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the National Centre for Social Research, do not believe the rise in paying for sex is the prime cause for this, but warned it could be a contributing factor."
So basically the rise in STD's has very little to do with the main focus of the BBC article.
Could it be they hope to distract attention from the real reason for the rise in Aids cases by such nonsense?
Much BBC reporting these days is unworthy of a Tabloid.

Have to say JL that I noticed that aswell, so basically the author of the story wanted to say something that was at odds with the truth. Must be a case of boss says "write me a story saying this".

A person close to me used to work at the local hospital & says that many "front line" (as the media like to call them) staff are getting very, very angry with health tourists. People turn up because they have come here from Africa for a "holiday" & suddenly don't feel well. A visit to A&E, a few simple tests & they ask "It's not HIV is it?". So they get tested for HIV and, what a surprise, they've got it. Then the NHS has to pay for treatment & give them a bed. She came home very upset once as an OAP who'd been waiting for a hip Op for ages had the Op cancelled at the last moment as an African had been "taken ill" & needed the bed. This was an OAP who'd been paying NI all their life & had previously had the op cancelled. How do you tell somebody that their quality of life will continue to be very poor (no mobility) as somebody from another country, who'd never contributed a penny towards the NHS, was deemed to be more important than them? The liberal elite keep shouting about how we owe it to the whole world to treat them if they ask for it, but don't we owe the people who have funded the NHS the first bite of the cherry? It doesn't take much imagination to work out how the nurses feel about the situation (unless, of course, they're foreign nurses that have been poached from counties like India). It's a shame that what the staff say in private is completely different to what they say in public, political correctness & fear of being labelled an "ist" has a lot to answer for (front line staff leaving the NHS being one of them). The whole situation is sick.

Well said. The Liberal elite are the foulest of filth that have ever run this country. Its a very sick country indeed and we need to put a stop to it.

I mean, clearly if someone's about to die because they've been in an accident or got food poisoning or something then it's another matter, but I can't see why we should be allowing the underfunded NHS to treat the whole planet FOC. But I do seriously believe that there should be a major shake-up of the NHS. The way it is run is shocking and if that were addressed then successive Governments wouldn't need to keep pouring emergency funding into it.

If we have to have an E111 to get reciprocal health care in Europe how can it be that someone on "holiday" from Africa )or anywhere else for that matter) can get the same for free without health insurance?
