I've had the same story but then it was a garage holder who took my car(Bertone X1-9) wich was on a repair by them, out for a spin at his doktor and that when his leg was stil in bandage(gips?) because of a ski accident he had!! he lost control in a highspeed corner!
He parked my car total loose!(wreckt) in a dish?(where normaly water flows) and I've got only have the money back from his compagnie ensurance!! this was about 22 years ago when I drove a Bertone X1-9...I'm still angry when I think of it! he took my car without permission and not for a testdrive or so, but just for fun!

Problem will be arguing the toss over how much I suspect. I would be losing it in ways not previously thought humanly possible if I were that poor sod.

There would be a headline the next day -
Valet staff disapeared, police following blood trail - Ex-Exige owner is "helping" police with enquiries.

If done via insurance he'll get a measly trade in value if rumours are true (is that true? I remember a thread on it a while back). He'll be going to court to get the difference back.

Terrible thing to happen hope he gets his money back. The BBC news article on it http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/devon/4484212.stm includes the chilling phrase "I only took it out now and again".

he says: "I was absolutely gutted when I saw it because of all the time and effort that's been put into it. It was my little baby. I only took it out now and again."

He'have to be punnished because he was joyriding(drove without permission!) I feel sorry for the owner and hopes justice will be done and he gets a sort like car back and excuses and an option for free to choose what special stuf he wants on his car for lets say 5.000,-gbp?
