Any ideas how long you can leave Exige S2 out in the cold without using it and still expect it to start? I don't use it during the week and wondered whether I will have probs leaving it from Sunday to Saturday without use. I have an outdoor cover (Specialised Car Co- brilliant fit and waterproof) so it won't be completely open to the elements. Does simply starting the car keep the battery charged or do I need to be moving to do it any good?

that depends on what you let on in the car, like alarm or plugins at sigaretlighters who can use energie...
But when your car don't use many leaks on power like those things I mentioned, and you've got things in order like a good battery(not to old) and all the fluids are winter protected mines 30? and keep in mind that when its cold then the battery will be lower on power and you don't use that heavy powerstuf a few miles before you at home, I guess its no problem for a week or too, also depends where youre car is parked(in or out the wind) and how cold it is...
So 1 week is no problem whit a good battery(buy also a battery charger for home use when it won't start put that on plug it in, charge a few minutes and try to start with that thing stil charging on the car, that did work for me in need, its like someone help starting with startcabless) don't forget to get al stuf of when it starts

About 10-14 days....I left mine for 14 days though and it needed a jump start...I have one of those power pack things from Halfords...really handy for when you get back from hols.

Of course if you have pwer nearby then a trickle charger could be an option

I left my old S2 Elise for 2 weeks numerous times with no problems at all. The cover will probably help keep it warm.

I haven't managed to leave the Exige alone for more than a day...

Cheers,
Ali

Last February during the snow I got a lift into work for the week and had no problem starting the car at the weekend, as long as the battery's in good condition you should be OK

I have left mine for over 2 weeks (S2 111s) in the dead of winter and had no trouble starting it.

Get a solar charger that plugs into the cig locket and trickle charges it during the day. About £20 quid from Eliseparts I think, also available from boating online stores etc.

do those solar chargers work - sure I read somewhere about the circuit not being switched on when the car isn't, so it wouldn't charge the car anyway?

That's the S1, and is easily fixed. All S2s have the power socket live when ignition is off.

I can highly recommend an Accumate battery charger, you can leave them connected all the time, and just unplug when you take the car out.

Thanks all- reckon I'll try a monday-friday without use- it's a pain removing the car cover anyway, only to then get shotblasted with grit and wish I'd left it at home! Roll on the bloody summer I say.

Or get a really long cable.
