Today I've had a look at a 2000 W'Reg Elise S1 (done 83k) with full service history (roof leaking, but I understand that this is fairly standard). Priced at under 10k. With my limited knowledge this seems like a reasonable 'dealer' price for this car at this time of year. In terms of mileage is this regarded as high mileage for the K Series engine or do they take this kind of mileage in their stride? - Any comments and feedback would be appreciated. I'd also like to get hold of a hard top for the car and find out more about track days (especially regulations/safety requirements) again any advice would be appreciated......

Hi simon,

welcome I have just picked up my new S1 today, there excellent fun and you wont regret it (done 150 miles in mine today just for the fun of it )

I have been looking at the market a lot lately as well, dont know where you are but theres one here www.davidbrowncars.co.uk/ 4th page that is absolutley stunning (hasnt even got a rusty bolt on it) i went to look at it and drove it, I know he'd take 9.5 for it and it's got a hardtop !

might be worth a look if it's not too far !

Cheers Glyn

Leaky roof - Assuming you mean a leak at the top front corner of the windows, TADTS. You can water proof the roof which helps a lot (water tends to bead off rather than soak in)

That is a lot of money for a car with that many miles on, you should be able to do a lot better than that. If you have 10k you shoudl be able to get a really well sorted example, maybe like
www.pistonheads.com/sales/57806.htm ?

As to how many miles a K can do - depends on how well maintained they are and how badly the owners abuse them.

Track days - click here -> www.lotus-on-track.com/ thats all you need to know

Thanks for the feedback. I've emailed David Brown Cars to see if there's a deal to be had. I'd also be interested in the black Elise too but I really need a part exch deal. I don't mind travelling for the right car....

Thanks for the info on track days also. Can't wait!
Best regs, Si.
