News has pics of vehicles stuck on the A30 across Bodmin Moor. Look like cars at the front as having trouble on the ice and there were some accidents earlier on. Now there is a massive queue. The news chaps have a helicopter and panned along the queue. The opposite direction (East/North bound I think) is snowy but OK, vehicles are moving along it OK - hardly any traffic. There are quite a few gaps in the central reservation for joining roads etc. What I don't understand is why people don't turn around nip down the A30 to get off the hills and head down to the coast roads (North or South of where they are), then they might get home tonight. At least they'll get to a village town with a hotel/b&b. OK some are stuck with traffic behind/in front, but many aren't. Weird.

Are the police stopping them doing this for fear of causing an accident on the other side? I do not know the answer but normally if people are not doing what seems "normal" there is a good reason for it. Then again...BAAAAHHHHH!!!
My other half was sat in this for 5hrs earlier. The bit that is really bad is hilly and where he was theres a contraflow and roadworks. He turned round and went about 1/4mile before it all stopped again cos another lorry couldnt get up a slight slope. I'm not really sure how he got himself out but he's home now. They dont send the Army in for no reason!
