I saw old Grumpy Guts was on BT this morning, but I was at the gym I couldn't hear what he was rambling on about/promoting himself. Did any other Floydians out there catch this?

He's written an Opera. Plus the usual inane questioning about whether Floyd will be reforming again.

yes I saw him on BT this morning , he was talking about his opera project (about the French revolution) and how relevant it is to todays political and social scene, and expressed how chuffed he was to play with Pink Floyd again, and that he wouldn't mind doing again with his old mate.
The feeling I get is that Roger Waters takes himself a little too seriously, and as a result it pi$$es other people off, and that's what happened upon the break up with Pink Floyd.
I doubt very much either Nick Mason or Dave Gilmour(who looked uneasy on stage during live8) would feel comfortable about having RW back with them on a permanent basis.R Waters burnt all his bridges with the group ,caused a lot of hurt in the past ,and live8 was and remains a "one off reunion" for Pink Floyd. The trust is gone and Rodger Waters can only feel "comfortably numb" about his dream of being a Floyd again.

To which he replied?

He's such a miserable bugger. But he knocks together a good tune and supports field sports.

I don't particularly like RW - but his 'Pros and Cons' album is an absolute cracker.

Money, get back.
I’m all right jack keep your hands off of my stack.
Money, it’s a hit.
Don’t give me that do goody good bullshit.
I’m in the high-fidelity first class traveling set
And I think I need a lear jet.

Money, it’s a crime.
Share it fairly but don’t take a slice of my pie.
Money, so they say
Is the root of all evil today.
But if you ask for a raise it’s no surprise that they’re
Giving none away.

Always tickles me this one, the Pink Floyd gazillionaires singing about the evils of wedge........

I guess it was nerves ( no really !!) They were so much more relaxed at the soundcheck late on Friday night - and they brought almost the entire site to a standstill, which is a feat in itself when you've got 300 hardened stage and site crew trying to do five days work in 32 hours !

The song Money was not, from what I have read and seen, so much about the money itself, more about money being the main or only incentive in someones life.

As has been pointed out they were not that wealthy when dark side was written (although still quite well off, I believe Mason bought his first Fezza (2nd hand)during the recording of it), but the point was they could see that it was only wealth creation behind their signing and career, not an appreciation of their skills or any other factor - this was recognised even earlier with "welcome to the machine", a humerous attempt to show how shallow the whole recording industry was\is.

For that reason I see no irony in money as a song sung by PF, although by the time RW had started to take control and the Rock Opera era let him vent his spleen on the loss of his father then it started, with hindsight - I'm too young to have considered it at the time, to become a little hypocritical and perhaps a little meaningless due to the overriddingly shallow intensity.

sorry, lost the plot....

(too much black sheep)

Cheers

Interviewing Sid would be like interviewing Nicholson's mad character in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest lol
