Anyone catch the sensationalist rubbish Radio 1 were tacking onto there news broadcasts yesterday?

Apart from their obviously impartial and broad-based survey that showed 75% of pissheads and underage drinkers, sorry I mean the wide ranging selection of people they chose to get a fair and representative view of the opinion of the general public, will drink more as a result of the change in licencing laws, aparently the increase in opening times will result in a massive increase in unprotected sex!

I hope the Labour Government realise they will be held directly responsible for the sudden and overwhelming increase in teen pregnancies and the widespread STD epidemic which will be with us by the end of the week!

Or perhaps Radio 1 are talking arse... not sure.

To be fair (and I don't know why I am, but there you go...) the target audience of Radio 1 is 13 to 25 year olds, so that's who they poll for opinion.

Most probably had to have it explained to them that a poll wasnt a pole for dancing round or someone from Poland

True, just found it very amusing they were trying to make out that their self-claimed 'biggest survey of it's type in the UK' resulted in such tenious rubbish. I really should stop listening to Radio 1...

I spent £300-400 a month back in 2001-2002, no girlfriend, lived at home, average job, went out and pissed my salary up the wall and had fun. Was never rowdy or violent like, but you could call me a heavy drinker etc.

Now, I'm settled down, have a girlfriend, a better job. To even justify spending £5 a week on alcohol is like a super luxury. I've got better things to spend money on than funny juice.

Think thats where the problem is though, house prices have gone up loads, and there are tons of people with tons of disposable income, from age 18-30 now it seems ok to still be living at home (fair enough with house prices as they are), but thats the problem.

If prices were 50% less, half the people out drinking would probably be moving into a new house and saving up for that holiday or extension!

As per junk reporting on BBC, yeah, what a load of shite. Sounds like they went and asked the biggest to55sers to start with, who already find the current opening hours adequate to get totally rat arsed!

Pretty sure there will be no change, just means I can stay out longer or when it's quieter. Those who choose to over do it with the old beer will do it even if they had 6pm-8pm opening hours. It's about attitudes, not lisencing hours.

I think you're right Whippy. I think they're becoming the 'f*uk you' generation.

We have denied them the free university education that we benefitted from, we have denied them the ability to buy there first house or flat and instead expect them to pay the rent on our BTL flats, we expect them to pay more tax then ever, yet lock them out of the tax free gains from housing.

I'm not suprised they've given up on the idea of ever owning a home, getting married or having a family, I think they're just saying it, might as well get pissed, sod you.

I was unfortunate enough to listen to a snippet of R1 yesterday morning, where Chris Moyles was being very self congratulatory regarding Children In Need, saying that the donations came flooding in once he was on! Well, at least now we know why they do it - great for their egos! I also heard that sensasionalist rubbish that was described as a 'biggest ever survey', what utter trite!

I think there will be a short term incrrease in consumption, and then it'll go back down. If you want to drink to the early hours then you go to a nightclub so drinking after 11pm is hardly a new thing. So personally i think that once the initial euphoria of having more than normal has gone, people will drink similiar quantities or even go to the pub a bit later in the evening.

As for this unprotected sex bit that is extrapolating data gone wrong.

The Question:

Under the new licencing laws do you plan to have more unprotected sex?

a) yes

b) no

I mean - do they take into account that the more drink a guy has the more useless he is in bed? I mean, lets face it, try getting a hardon after 7 pints. All thoughts about your todger are primarily about running to the toilet for the rest of night rather than getting it up. And if you aren't use to 7 pints the chance of you actually mounting your bird are limited, co-ordination is probably a faint memory of 3 hours ago, and you've probably got to be real careful that you don't actually throw up on your intended.

I can only assume that it is all outweighed by the increase in opportunity that the increase in alcohol intake allows for which is probably proportional to the thickness of the beer goggles.
