A solution to solve everyones concerns buying a new TVR

Hi all,
Its been a whle since I have posted(for obvious reasons) but my heart still pounds when I see any Tivvver! Cerb is coming soon so I can be a real poster again.....but in the mean time I have been thinking.....and I am a deep thinker!....anywho, the query that always seems to come up,wether justified or not, relates to reliability and how the factory/manufacturer will look after you when or if things go Pete Tong, over and above the normal excellent dealer network? SofG Act etc... SOLUTION????? As follows.....
Looking for a new car? Purchase only from TVR London (Hogarth) as this is factory owned and as your contract is with the supplier ie yes you guessed it! The factory!!.....you will be speaking with the organ grinder, not the monkey! and they can worry about warranty rates and cars(allegedly) not fit for the purpose! I infer no disrespect to the dealer network but that is the easiest analogy I can think of.
Looking for a used car? Purchase from the dealer network and make sure you pay for a used car warranty that will have excellent labour rates for the dealer....so keeping them in business/happy to do the work for you.
Result?
Dealers happy! Customer happy! Factory happy cos they are selling more cars to retail customers above wholesale price to dealers, therefore more net retained profit therefore more money for investment and to cover the cost of any issues and for long term security etc!

So let me get this right.
What youre saying Ed is buy a new car via the factory outlet so when it goes wrong they can deal with it directly.
And if you buy a second hand car buy it from a main dealer with a good warranty so when it goes wrong you can fall back on them.
Pure genius - thanks for that - I'll keep it in mind for when it goes wrong, which according to your post it surely will.

Nope, it wont always go wrong, hence the phrase IF....main dealer for second hand because they will be paid proper industry rates by independent warranty companies.......Factory for new because there is nothing like a problem in your living room to have a problem fixed quickly rather than having a 'buffer' in the guise of a dealer.
AND........
To answer the question of 'but surely the factory wont let a dealer sell only used cars or only let them service cars, instead of selling new as well?'....block exemption in the motor industry finished last year, therefore the factory CAN NOT stop anyone from applying to service cars ONLY! They could make it difficult in terms of standards but the requirement is that if you apply to be a service outlet the manufacturer MUST allow you to! (subject to its own standards)

I'm fairly convinced that TVR London, although allied with the factory will be a totally separate limited company in its own entity.
I don't think you will be speaking directly with the organ grinder at all.......may be a distant cousin.
Believe me, there is only one organ grinder and it won't be anyone at TVR London.

Well, that presupposes that there is enough profit to be made from secondhand car sales and servicing.
I wouldn't have thought there was and that most dealers rely on their percentage profit from new car sales.
In fact, most dealers I know take on a second and sometimes even a third franchise.

Sounds like you'd have to take it to a dealer if the second hand market only buys from dealers. And they offer great prices!
Anyone think this new TVR-approved used warranty is firming up residuals yet? I've spoken to a few dealers who said quite a lot of customers are taking it up...
