When Lotus won't be able to sell 45k+ 'special editions' Exiges (eg 240R, 240 cup etc) any more, many believe an SC kit will be available for normal S2 Exiges.
This is the rumour I know.
But what about fitting the SC in an Elise 111R ? Of course the engine cover as such won't accomodate it.
Do you think one will ever be available ?

I am unsure whether to get an Exige or an Elise now. I am not able to exploit the sportier tyres/suspension of the Exige. I'd go for it only to be able to get an SC in the future!!

As a TVR fan that had a recent drive in an Elise and loved it (except for the lack of power), I'm very interested in this topic. I have wondered myself about the SC upgrade on Toyota engined cars or an engine transplant on an early car - is there a consensus on what the price/ power increase relationship should be? Obviously, retaining engine reliability is a given (speaking as a TVR follower ).

Having seen the 240R installation I don't think you'd be able to fit it into an Elise, unless you did away with the chargecooler - with the obvious detriment to power.

Excellent links - even with my lack of translation - looks like a neat solution, rather than putting the weight high up as in the 240r. More power and torque as well. Not cheap though, but a lot less than a 240r relatively.

A standard Exige S2 is nice with around 190hp but not real fast on the highway and trying to get up with fast cars, the Forced Fed 275Hp does better things 0 to 60mph in just 4sec
0 to 100mph in just 8,8sec! and 1/4 mile in just 12,3sec so its worth doing it! the 400hp elise cost around 11.000,-$ dollars up the 275hp price stil a fear price but a bigger job to do!, maybe the next stap when you get bored with 275hp?
You can order it yourself from the states and get a discount? or I saw on that site a Forced Fed dealer in GB! so close to you? and let them do the job for you...
By the way you've got a nice Exige, here is the adres in GB

Its no old school turbo lag(like a siera cosworth I've had long ago) its a smal turbo with direkt reaction, and its a light car, but they recommend a acusump but thats only good I think.
I also prefer a supercharger, but with that power up its more costly then turbo.
For me most importend is the extra power that you need on the street tho feel the power when you doing 100mph and then floor the pedal, that way you can safely pasing cars
and stil feel it in your back...

if you are into modding then dont bother starting with the heaviest Elise made yet - start with an S1 or early S2 and save 100-150Kg - then just stick an Audi on Honda lump in the back - sorted

300bhp in 800Kg ish is sub 12s in the 1/4, mid to high 3's to 60 and sub 8secs to 100mph...and yours for under £20K if you find a cheap donor car..........

you are right on the point when you also have to buy a elise, then a lighter elise with a honda or a audi lump and some tricks can do a perfect job.
But here we where talking about a S2 elise/exige with toyota lump(111R) so when you got a car like that you don't change it for a honda because you don't need.
In this case you put a supercharger or a turbo on and it will do nicely! I know that Elise?exige is some heavier but you also got some extra goodies!, but what I try to say is, when you have a nice 111R with a good toyota 192hp engine(standard) you don't put another engine in it, but look first at the options what you can do with that engine, and believe me thats a lot
Maybe I get an Lotus Exige Cup(with compressor) 1 out 50, in the beginning of next year!I have an option on that car, can't wait.
But a S2 elise/honda with compressor(300hp) or audi turbo(315hp)engine is also possible.

My problem with turbos are the way they deliver power. It is a sudden kick of power and although with the correct modern algorthym in you ecu you may be able to minimise the lag the delivery is still jerky. Combine it with the VVt stem at 6k2 then you are going to be getting to know your local hedgrows very well. Also turbo's tend to be "peaky" with thier power and run out of puff in the higher aspects of the power band. This is completly un compatible with the way the toyota lump applies the power. You are going to end up with a far smaller far more sudden power band.

When you watch the Forcefed vids, you see Elises screaming down a dragway, no bends. The vids I have seen of turbo'd cars on a track all involve a car doing huge speeds but the always come off on a bend.

The elise is a scalpel of a car, quick precice and set up to handle. The turbo has always been the sledgehammer of forced induction and personally I dont think the 2 are compatible. Why do you think the serious get out of thier vx220 and get into a 111R

I am waiting for a supercharger. An adaptation of the one used in the Exige or I may use the one from the corolla, then change the pulleys.

the original poster is undecided on which car to go for, due to the availability of easy tuning later...in which case, Id stick with an earlier Elise as there are a load more tried and tested options at present
