Looking for an economic car for about £12-14K and I've narrowed my choice to the above cars.
I think I prefer the 3 series overall but it would obviously be the older model. Don't want to lose too much at selling time so depreciation is an issue along with running costs. Not too interested in performance as I've done the sportscar thing. So 2005 118d or 2003/4 320d?
Any views welcome.

320d - for the age you are looking at you can get the 150BHP model and probably with a few nice extras.....
Its the better car, faster and just as economical as the 118 but better equiped, roomier and a better drive / ride compromise. The 118 might be good (I hate them by the way), the 120d is better. Why compromise, get a 320d instead....
...or get a 330d a few years older... see Autotrader - they are £10k for a good'un
