TVR insurance... I am a muppet

No no don't worry I've not been driving uninsured or anything...
it's simply that, with my policy expiring at Privilege, I am a muppet for not having retained in my brain or on paper any of the useful TVR insurance tips I have seen on these pages in the past.
So I'd be really grateful for any recommendations... I'm a 34 year old TVRCC member with full NCB living in London and driving a Tuscan.
Whom should I be calling? The only name I remember is Mannings - do I find them on the web? Any others worth trying? Surely someone can beat £1400...

if you arn't doing trackdays, and probably if you are garaged overnight, then try Tesco Direct. I have six points, Cerb 4.2, and just renewed for my second year with them at 50% no claims at £850. If you are new to them but light on no claims they will normally do a chunky introductory discount. Worth an online look.
I posted a similar question some time ago and after exhaustive phone calls the cheapest that I can get (living in London, 36, 7yrs no claims, 4 points on licence + plenty of performance car experience) is £1300 via Mannings! I would like to know how others are managing less than £1000, Mannings told me it was due to the postcode (HA) and Sunninghill (who were also recommended, could not get anywhere near £1300!!!! Seems I am just destined to pay horrendous insurance premiums and there doesn't seem to be much I can do about it!?

I have used them on and off over a number of years and they generally gives good prices and service.

I used Priviledge for a while, then decided to get Nitrons/Sports exhaust. Priviledge wanted an extra £150 or so for this, so I phoned around.
Mannings offered me the same as I get with priviledge, with additional track day cover, including the mods for half of what I was paying priviledge. Total of £660 including breakdown cover for a 28yo with 5 years NCB, unlimited mileage.

Chimaera 400 - SW London, 26 yo, No No-Claims, loads of experience in perf cars, garaged, limited mileage (5k), Mannings sub £800ish. Never been insured in UK before (originally from Australia).
Cant complain about that....

I really don't undestand the lottery of insurance - in March i paid £1100 for a grif 500 parked on the drive in london W4 - with 10 years NCB + no points + no claims (squeeky clean) and being 29. What the hell is that all about? Rung everyone too, ended up with elephant who were £100 cheaper than the specalists. problem i had with the specalists is that they required proof of insuring a tvr or performance sports car before. Not much help to a new owner.
