I can do most of my homework, but I'm stuck on this question:

Solve the following equation for 0 deg<#<360 deg , giving your answer to 1 decimal place:

4sin^2# = cos^2# [four sine squared theta equals cosine squared theta]

# = theta (symbol for an angle)

I think, using cos^2# = 1 - sin^2#, it becomes:

3sin^2# - 1 = 0

But this doesn't seem to give the answer. The answers should be 26.6, 206.6, 153.4, 333.4 degrees.

Any help would be great

Try

5 sin^2# - 1 = 0

I agree. Your punishment is to write a short poem about a horse.

It's your homework, you bloody do it coz I don't know the answer. We didn't do that sort of thing in my day. I know the Wymondom Theta has 206 seats in the stalls tho. Does that help?

Look, its not my fault, I keep getting bollocked for getting 70 and 80%'s. Apparently, my maths teacher wants us to do the work, check the answers in the back of the text book and then re do anything we've got wrong so he doesn't have to mark anything, the lazy bastard.

SNE, I'll check my working....

Thanks! Can't believe I made that mistake! My work is surroundfed by crossings out and doodlings, so I missed that one.

Cheers!

Shouldn't it be 5sin^2# - 1 = 0 ? Looking at your first attempt, you should add sin^# to each side of the equation, not subtract.

And hurry up with the horse poem....

Here ya go:

There once was a horse called Fred,
And he lived in a shed,
On the weekends he liked to race,
The rest of the time he needed some space
So his owner put him in a field,
Surrounded by a big fence shield,
I really cant be arsed to write any more,
So ill be heading for the door…
