The guy is a one-trick pony, surely?

There are far more talented comedians, who have not had the luck.

No?

What a trick though eh?

To be fair, he isn't and has never claimed to be a comedian. He's a writer and surprisingly good actor.

I remember him from his DJ time on X-FM. He was pure quality, but apparently was droped for saying once too often...

If any of you guys could have written and starred in The Office and made it a tenth as funny I'd be pretty impressed. For that alone he's got to be regarded very highly indeed. It's a complete classic in my eyes

Why does noddy wear a little red hat with a bell?

Because he's a

I would never go so far as to say I "hate" someone I've never met in person. However, I can truthfully state that his style of humour is lost on me.

I don't find his stuff terribly funny.

Other people do, though, and I certainly don't "hate" him.

Wouldn't watch anything by him except by accident.

Personally I found The Office to be about as funny as dysentery - I have never found the humour of embarrasment funny and I doubt I ever shall.

IMHO the bloke was extremely good on Xfm, The Office and his stand-up DVDs. Not seen Extras though - as good as his other work?

True, when it's not even trying to be funny it's better than 90% of the other s(h)it-coms out there.

Its been rumoured that he is going to do a film with Christopher Guest called 'For Your Consideration'

The two most talented character comics, its bound to be a cracker.

He had me in stitches the other day during an interview.

If you were trapped in a lift with only one other person, who would it be?

Me mate Trevor because he's got a toolkit.

If your house was on fire and you could only save 3 things, what would they be?

My cat, my salamander and one of the twins...

Can't agree.

The essence of comedy is timing, and he is a master. You could just as easily say Billy Connolly was a one trick pony - all he does is swear incomprehensibly and laugh at his own jokes. What's funny about that? What about Lee Evans - he's manic, but thats it surely? Laurel and Hardy? Fat guy, thin guy, same old slapstick. Tommy Cooper - one trick, and he couldn't even pull that off (.

I think the thing about Grevais which makes it hard for some to allow themselves in on the joke is that he is SO close to the truth, so sublime in pointing out our personal weaknesses, that people see too much of themselves in his comedy.

Have to say, after a lot of negative comments on here about "Politics" i gave it a wide berth.

Saw it round a mate's house the other day - funniest thing I've seen for a long, long time.

Know what you mean, but as his character is clearly based on my first ever 'boss', it's makes me pleased as I don't have to work for the incompetent jumped-up git any more

(If you're 5'0" tall, full of carp and called Harrison, that's you, that is)

He is the same a Bruce Forcyth to me. Seems like a nice guy but he does not entertain me at all.
