I received this message in my personal e-mail address (used for e-bay sales) but I know nothing about it. I haven't responded.

Is it a genuine mistake or some new con?

"I have sent you the money (3000 USD) 7 day's ago (do you remember) and I have not received my PowerMac G5 yet, can you please explain what happend? If you don't Respond Now, I will report you to the ebay and Police I am no so stupid to let you get away with this.
Thank you !"

PS....

I've never sold any such item on e-bay and to be honest I didn't even know what a PowerMac G5 was until I googled it!

What could be the point of this message to me I wonder, I'm trying to work out how this could be another scam

I'd say that has SCAM written all over it.

I get e-mails telling me I need to re-register my account details with e-bay, "which can only be done using this link or your details will be lost" on a regular basis. Scam.

Thanks for the reply guys.

They could possibly have got my account details somehow but would anything they bid for be charged to my e-bay account, I thought that was for selling fees only?

Or, do you mean there is someone using my account to sell stuff, receive money but not send the goods?

I don't use paypal, just cash, cheque or PO (cleared funds only with me).

I get those too but I can see why with those but this message just didn't seem to have an obvious reason to it.

I just thought I'd check the price of a G5 and they are not $3000 USD anyway.
So, must be some sort of scam.

I'll keep a close eye on my e-bay account and credit card account!

The reason for these emails is (I believe) to get you to reply. Then they know they've got a live email address and can sell it on to Spammers for more money.

They farm millions of email addresses off the interweb, most of which are old, duplicates or broken. Sending out emails like this is a way to work out which is which.

I think you should definitely forward the email to abuse@ebay.co.uk or whatever the address is; I expect you'll get one back saying that they have seen this one many times before, and if not you're doing them and everyone else a service by alerting them to it.

I can't believe the amount of frankly retarded people that have sent me the Sainsburys £60 voucher hoax email. Idiots.

If it wasn't a live email address wouldn't they get a "can't deliver" message?Or do you mean an address that is actually used as opposed to just existing?

Yes, but you need to send an email to find out, so you might as well find out if there's a live person on the end whilst you're at it.

No more messages from this person, I reckon Tuna was correct (just after a live e-mail address to spam).

I don't put my e-mail addrsss in my e-bay ads now. First time I did it I had several scam spoof e-bay security messages asking me to confirm my password etc.

I'll keep you posted!

Do an IP check on the email. If it's from Nigeria you can make your own mind up.

Re, the original post.

It's some new scam, just received this e-mail too:-

Translated, it says:-

If you look, there are now 2 months, since I paid for the individual part and still I didn`t receive it. This is my last warning to you: it is your problem to resolve. I will report you to ebay and in second place go I to the police. I lost my patience...
