This was B2B sales as well No name and shame, but certainly provided me with an impression of the company concerned..... And no, it wasn't positive!

Gosh - I know the one. They know all the english words, they just don't make any sense when they're strung together.....

Valiant effort from Phone-Push-Some-Fantastic-Deal last week. It sounded absolutely brilliant, but could not understand that I wanted the information so I could sign up!!!!!!

I keep getting American investment companies (based in New york) phoning me up at home - trying to persuade me to invest certain shares. I'm on the Telephone Preference Service, but I don't think it makes any difference to these people.

Most recently, I asked the bloke to hold for a bit, then I went to the loo, made a nice cup of tea, read a page of the newspaper - then I picked up the phone and said I'm not interested. I hope he ran up a huge bill!

I must admit that as the call went on I started using obscure phrases and expressions just to trip her up

Snap!

Easy way to get rid of the t**t:

Me: Yes I'd love to invest in some of your share things.

Him: So what sort of figures are we talking sir? Over a million?

Me: Dollars or sterling?

Him: Hey, sterling is good.

Me: o.k. under a million.

Him: O.k That's still good. More than 500

Me: oh yes

him: hey, can you give me a figure?

Me: well, I've got about 750

him: That's good, is it instant access?

Me: sort of, it's in my post office account. I just have to go to the counter and withdraw it. I can have 250 every day.

Him: post office?

Me: yes, with my debit card. I'm not allowed a proper bank account until 5 years after bankruptcy, so only 4 years to go. But I've managed to save 750 pounds and I can have 250 pounds every day. Is that o.k.?

He hung up.

You should try phoning the Train Information line, you will get transfered to India and have hours of fun trying to get some poor chap to understand when you ask about "fast trains on the c2c line to Fenchurch Street"

So when I answer the phone and get the ringing tone…and then a voice starts….does that mean I am paying the bill as one of my kids assures me, or is it another urban myth

Or just me being a paranoid old git (kids again)

what about when the bloke with the strongest Indian accent you've ever heard (obviously not UK based) cold calls and says his name is Dave?!? Very funny the first few times but the humour element wears off quite quickly Hardly had any though since signing up with the TPS

No it just means it's a computer generated call, the lag time from me picking up the phone to answer and them greeting is usually so long I've gotten in the habit of hanging up during the pause.

I hate phone soliciting, it's usless.I've got my home and cell numbers registered with the "National do not call list" (U.S.) the government set this up but there are so many loop holes that it is probably a waste of time. Phone soliciting should be outlawed!

Worse when they get basic pronunciations wrong, what gimp teaches these clowns? It's pronounced hampSTED not hampSTEED

If your near a computer ask them to hang on a moment, make some typing noises then say, 'oh sorry, computer says no' they aren't english so they wont get the joke, and if they inquire as to what this means you can legitimately say, but if your english then you must know what that means
