Has anybody found away of pulling the dings out of the sumps yet, without removing it.
I have been thinkinng of asking one of those guys like "Dentman" if there tools will pull the sumps back the rightway, They seem to be able to do wheel arches which can be fairly strong, any ideas ??.

you need a single sided spot welder which welds a tab , to which you then fit a slide hammer to pull out the dents
i've done this in the past by welding tabs on with a mig and then pulling the dent out with a slide hammer
if you are too keen with the hammer you may tear the metal and then have to take the sump off anyway
the best idea is always to take the sump off turn it upside down over a dolly and heat it up to red with oxy and flatten out the dent - bashing it from the inside with a tapping stick can tear the metal and cause a leak which you don't notice till you put it back on and fill the lump with oil
if you have to take the engine out to remove the sump it's worth having a go with the welding method first as if it goes wrong you haven't lost any thing - I strongly recomend you drain the oil out first as when i messed one up during the pulling stage I managed to tear a 5mm hole in the sump which then poured oil all over my head as I crouched in the pit - not ideal
if you get the dent out be sure to flush the engine to clean out the small amount of burnt oil which is left in the sump where you have been welding/grinding the tab off

THANKS , yeh i thought about the weld/ slidehammer job, could be the answer, I have also been told that they cut the cross member off then change the sump and then weld back on.
I am not sure what tools those guys at Dentman use but they seen to get some fantastic results even when dealing with a cavity. So they can't push from behind.
Shame about the mirror glass .
