Hi,
Behind my house that I rent as a student there is a parking area which the flat owns. However this is accessed from a common courtyard, that I am not sure if I share. Cars park in the courtyard which blocks my accesses.
Do I have a right of access?
Thanks,
William

No idea. Have you asked your landlord?

Landlord lives in Chile!
I thought I would ask here to see what the legal situation is on rights of access.
Thanks,
William

TBH, it's often really hard to clarify these sort of situations. If you rent through a letting agent they might know. Sorry I can't be more help. Some of the resident PH lawyers might have a better idea.

Going to be impossible to answer without knowing what is laid down in a writing within the lease of the flat/property deeds - rights of access over land can be particularly thorny little items. If the flat was advertised by the agents as having parking then I would query it with them and let them do the legwork, tell them you are unable to use it and if they cannot sort it out then you would want a redution in the rent.
