No, not a new slogan. But it seems that they have finally invented a decent (more European) brew: http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/business/stories.nsf/story/5204DBA762945761862570AC0013DAE3?OpenDocument

Not much hope of getting it over here, but can any of our US chums tell us what it's like?

Where I live in the US, Baldwinsville, there is a Budweiser brewery... Just driving past it you get a really delicious smell of hot corn dlakes!

Actually its not at all bad. Had some as a sample from the A-B hospitality at Disney in Florida. Its not Old Peculiar, any more than its a Bud. Tasted pretty good in the heat though!

When I want to slam a beer for thirst, I go American. My usual favorites, however, are Warsteiner, Newcastle, Harp, or any weiss(sp?)beer.

my brewery is in my cellar...

Bud do do some nice beers - but thats the origonal Bud - from Czech - where there are laws governing the proper brewing of Bud - ie the lagering process has to be addered to - rather than the US version of brew it quick, fill it with gas, ship it out ASAP - and cool it so nobody knows it tastes of nowt... serve in a brown bottle to give it colour.

The only bud worth drinking is the real stuff from Czech, not the gnat's p*ss that they churn out in the states.

The only similarity is in the name

Not in the States its not - Budvar is sold as Czechvar - cheeky sods.

Can't stand all the Lite crap beloved of NASCAR fans myself, but some of the Sam Adams stuff is passable.

Nicest lager I've had was a special edition Kronenbourg 'Fleur de Houblon' I picked up on holiday in the Alsace.

But you can't beat a pint of Old Hooky

You can A pint of Hopback Summer Lightening. Or 10 pints of Summer Lightening Or a pint of Fiddlers Elbow, Bishops Finger, Hobgoblin, Tanglefoot, Old Thumper, Winter Lightening.....
Bud? Beer? WTF????? It is, however, better than Milwaukee Best! Recently found why the Americans hate UK beer - went into a UK theme pub in California & they were serving Double Diamond!!!! And they were proud of it (lucky they had a few bottles of Fullers ESB behind the bar, that could have ruined my holiday)! Didn't realise they still made that stuff, they obviously can't sell it here so fob it off on the poor yanks. What did they do to deserve that? There are some good beers appearing in the US. Had one the other day called Diablo from the "Big Hole Brewery" (gotta love the name) in Montana. About 7.5%abv & tasted great, almost on a par with Bishops Finger or Hobgoblin. Not a beer to slam down yer neck, but not one that you need to spoon down either.

best US beer I have tasted is San Francisco's Anchor Steam beer. Very nice.

Budweriser (US) can never make a decent beer. There's rtoo much profit in crap beer. Even the Michelob is crap

Have to agree, Bud whatever in the States is a shameful excuse for a beer. Sam Adams on the other hand is a nice tipple. Can't see them sponsoring Nascar any time in the future though.
Also I think the genuine (Budweiser) stuff can't be called Budweiser because of some silly agreement between the two companies. Apparently Budweiser (anhauser Busch) tried to sue Budweiser Budwar to stop them using the name and in court the Judge simply asked 'how long have (AB) been calling their beer Bud (about 100 years) and Budweiser Budwar? (about 600 !!!)
Case dismissed !

Actually, reading this clears up my iccacuracies a bit

Most mass-produced US beer is crap. I don't care who makes it.

The only exception would be Sam Adams and THEN only the seasonal stuff is worth a taste (Oktoberfest, summer ale, etc, etc).

For quenching of thirst, nothing beats a Kronenberg or Stella.

For serious drinking and chatting with friends it's got to be Guinness, McEwans (when I can get it) or a trappist Chimay (Grand Reserve or Premier) for my guests that really enjoy beer.

ErnestM

PS: Of course, if getting pissed is the object, try the Sam Adams Utopias Beer:

25% alcohol by volume

Tho the US does seem to have a decent micro brewery scene... theres what 3..4 different micro breweries around Seattle alone... remember having some lovely English style Ales in the Pike Place Brewery, with the fermenting tanks in the middle of the shopping mall...
