BMW M6 gets lairy
Tuner releases even more powerful 552bhp version
Tuner and tweaker AC Schnitzer is to launch a rather scary -- and fast -- version of the just-released BMW M6, itself no slouch.
Dubbed Tension, it's just a concept -- so far -- and will be shown launched at the International Motor Show at Essen at the end of November. Schnitzer has upgraded the engine's power via new manifold and exhaust systems, to boost torque from 384lb-ft to 398lb-ft and power from 507bhp to a hefty 552bhp. New brakes in the form of eight-pot calipers (front) and four-pots at the rear restrain the beast, which gets a fancy colour scheme and new 20-inch alloy wheels. Tyres are rubber-band thin 285/30 ZR 20s at the front and 325/25 ZR 20s on the rears.
The chassis has been tweaked too, with what the company calls "an adjustable racing suspension. As well as lowering by 30 mm, the spring and damper rates have been clearly modified towards sporting performance. Furthermore anti-roll bar kits and the specially developed strut brace in aluminium-carbon combination have been used." Plus there are the usual external appurtenances such as scoops, spoilers and skirts.
AC Schnitzer reckoned the car was developed as a technology platform and would cost €260,000 (£176,500). However, AC Schnitzer insists the car as a whole is not for sale, made up as it is from a number of bits that it'll be happy to sell you individually.
For a boy its a nice toy, but not the price tag! the stuf on that car looks great for a tuning day, but when you want to sell the car after a year nobody wants to buy for a price near what it cost! because most want the original afraid that a car like that is wrongly used, thats the problem I think, but anyway it looks like a monster out the movie "to fast and furious"

Please, please tell me thats just a concept! I think that may actually look worse than the Ssangyong Rodius!!
I wish I could, but Pontiac has been flogging this, this, this, Aztek (hack, spit, cough) for a few years now. Worse, people seem to have been buying it... ;-)

That thing sends shivers down my spine, whereas the Rodius merely makes me want to vomit...
Like the look of the M6 though - paint aside. Would look a bit gangster in black i think!

Sporting it may be, but I'd sooner trust BMW M to make it sporty to start with, than an aftermarket tuner that suddenly makes it so much better within a few months of it being released
I like the yellow colour, and the front profile looks pretty mean.
But that tacky spoiler, the silly exhaust tips, the side vents... Eughhhhhh...
The new flame surfacing just donesn't lend well to "ye olde" bodykit designs. They just look stupid and stand out like a sore thumb.
Bodykits for Bangle stuff needs to key in with the design ethos, not just badly add to it!

Plus, the Fisker version is expected to have 580 hp, so it'll be faster too.
Other should look and learn.

£176,500 is what that car would cost should it be sold, but it is not. The price for this car would include the cost of research and development, as Schnitzer stuff is generally well tested (you can buy it from your BM dealer so they they have to make sure it is well made and tested).
I agree that the paint and the spoilers are a bit chav though, but having had Schnitzer wheels and suspension on my old E39 V8 5 series, I can vouch for the fact that it is good quality kit, and not halfords tat.
