S3 Drivers Door Mirror Loose?

Drivers door mirror came loose last week, now points to the ground instead of the rear.
Had a look at the weekend, the mirror is mounted to a round aluminium plate moulded into the door and held in place by a grub screw.
When the mirror casing is correctly orientated, i.e facing the rear the allen key grub screw is not accessable as it is approximately in the 12:00 o'clock position shrouded by the fibre glass recess.
Ideally the grub screw should be directly opposite at 6:00 o'clock position but this is not the case.
Had alook at the passenger side and again this allen key grub screw is not visible.
Does anyone know the method of fixing in place?

Bad Luck ! this is a b'std ! You can try cutting down a 3mm allen key to fit in the tiny gap , or swing the mirror back upwards as far as it will go, to allow you to use a regular allen key, then tighten it as much as posible but leaving it just loose enough to twist it into the correct position.Then on the opposite side (i.e at the bottom) drill a hole in the outer metal ring and insert a self tapping screw to tighten on to the inner ring which is the part glassed into the door.You will need to cut the plastic cover so you can slip it off, but it it does go back on and stays in place.

Thanks for the info lads, I completed the repair last night. It was a bit cold out in the garage in Aberdeenshire last night but the good lady came out with a cup of coffee just to keep the blood flowing.

I tightened the allen key screw to a point where I could force the mirror housing round to the correct orinetation, then as posted, I drilled through (3mm drill)at the six o'clock location and fitted a self tapper, pulled the plastic cover plate back over the screw, removed the protective dust sheet which I had taped to the door in case the drill slipped and the job was done. No messing about with cut down allen keys etc, self tapper is the way to go, saves a lot of time and frustration.

Even supprised her in doors when I came in with still half a cup of hot coffee, she thought I would be out there all night.

Once again thanks for the info.

Still makes me wonder how the factory fittted them.
