Is it just me or do these fuel pumps click over the penny on purpose as you walk across the forecourt :scratchchin:

Thats the stupid thing with this country and it's 1 and 2p pieces. We dumped the equivalent in Australia so 5cents is the lowest coin denomination. So if you paying cash at the pump you put in $10.02 and it's only $10
Over a year it would add up I suppose.

Of course if you pay by credit card they charge you that extra amount though .

I have been trying to convince anyone who will listen that there is an underhand system in place to add a penny on 15 or so seconds after you have replaced the nozzle. After all who is going to quibble over the penny. But add them all up over the year and I smell a tidy profit......

I just put a tenner in the old runaround ive got,i double checked yep a tenner i dont need a penny from my car...gets to the counter and he asks me for £10...and a PENNY.....no i only put a tenner in (standing my ground for once,i normally just pay it)..its no biggy as ive got £200 in my pocket...
Then he sez na mate you went over its £10 and a penny but ime not gonna argue over a penny
...Damn right your not gonna argue over a penny i said cos i only put a tenner in!
I pay him the tenner and as i walk of Jobsworth makes a comment to the next customer about the penny

I turn round,Ime thinking its not the penny ...i know what i did and ime not senile yet...
the penny this guys calling me a liar and now mocking me with the next customer.....
so i said "you got anything to say mate"...he dips his head ...i walk off.

I cant believe i got worked up over a poxy penny

Ime sure there's a conspiracy going on here

i have never had the pump increase after i stop filling. i often end the filling on a round amount cos i pay with cash as often as my card so it is easier to end on a full pound.

i would have thought that once the pump nozzle is back in its holder then it is automatically stopped from increasing.

Yep. In the days of Green Shield stamps:

Customer: is this the right amount
Me: dunno, give em back I'll check
Me: You're right, there's a mistake, remove 4 stamps & return to customer

Didn't actually get punched, but it was close!

I worked in a petrol station for 3 years.

There is no nudge button or any 'trickery'.

Customers are just morons.

And just HOW do you drive off with a tyre inflator STILL attached to your tyre? That used to happen fortnightly and is why garages started switching to those rubbish machines that demanded 20p.
