Engine Oils, Best quality but value for money too

Started off with Mobile 1 (£35 5 litres) then a friend recommended Silkolene Pro 5 (£17 5 Litres) which made the :cloud9: engine purr with sweet delight now Silkolene have ramped up the price, best quote so far including delivery of 60 litres is £434.95 inc VAT (:yikes:, £36.24 5 litres) I know she's worth every penny and felt like I had the best of both worlds, but now believe that something very slippery going on.

Any recommendations on oils or source's or is somebody running a cartel ?

I use Magnatec GTX as recommended by Dave Batty and Austec...

They gave me a very good price on Motul, and are a great source of lube. info on PH as well.

I've been using Millers oils (10/60 Motorsport) for the last 20k miles. Seems to do the job as well as any other.

i use the Valvoline VR1 fully synthetic racing oil 5-50 works out about £19 for 5 lites

For my RV8 Austec advised me to use Valvoline Max Life 10W40; a lot cheaper that e.g. Castrol RS.

Opie Oils will do the Silkolene Pro S or R for around £30 for 5L, which is very cheap for an Ester based oil. I've been buying it for the past three years but have never seen it for £17, where were you buying it from that cheap? I recently went into my local motor factors who were selling it for £42.99. Give them a call as I am sure they will have an oil that suits your personal and your cars requirements.

For standard fully synthetic oil the valvoline range at around £20 for 5 litres is very good value.

flea'bay shop about a year ago, I got 40 litres..but they did appear to have as much as you wanted..now too late in my trading history to find the blighters, I did at the time think it was a deal, but recall also seeing it at £20 for 5l elsewhere

I've been using Mobil 1 15-50w Motorsport in both Chimaeras but I have increasingly heard how much better all round the Valvoline oil is, what is the ideal Valvoline for the RV8?

Couldnt tell you a bloody thing about if its too thin, too thick etc. I'll bring you a pint to drink at BT&P & you can try it yourself....hang on...you mean youre supposed to put it in the engine? Oh dear

I don't know which made me smile more, the thought of you drinking oil or you offering someone a pint Nick!
