The G.F and i are looking to hire a decent motorhome for two weeks and was thinking of heading down to Northern Spain either direct by Ferry to Santander or via France..returning the same way or up via another French route. Any good recomendations for places in Northern Spain in the way of Beaches or outstanding beauty....etc.

Thanks

Not in Spain, but if you drive down then Ile de Re near la Rochelle was a great 10 day motorhome stop for us

Second the Ild de Re.

Used to go there regularly as a kid and went back this year for the first time in about 10 years. St Martin is nice and a great beach just passed Ars.

Warning - read the foreign office's travel advice about France. My hairdresser has a 40 grand Winnebago thing, and stopped overnight in a French truck stop. Woken up by the police, thieves had chucked a gas or aerosol cannister through the window which kept them asleep while the thieves nicked all their gear. If the windows are closed, they drill a hole through the body and spray it in that way.

Edited to add:
We used the Portsmouth - le Harve crossing. Best to go overnight and get a cabin, then set off early. You can reach Ile de Re in a day like that
