Nearest thing to a junior TVR?

Right, there is a thread running ( http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=13&t=216881 ) on what car TVR should make next. The usual suggestions have turned up, namely lack of Cerbera type car and [b]replacement for S series[/b].

Regarding the latter, I nominate

The problem with an entry level car is getting enough BHP for decent performance. Less weight = less bhp required (at "normal" speeds!) The range above has between 300 and 470 bhp/ton - very TVR like figures (ok - the last one is higher than anything currently on offer)

Of course, the level of luxury is rather non existant, but then at typical weights of 550kgs or less the :driving: would make up for it.

Maybe Mr S should buy them out and then give the interior the TVR treatment :D

In theory the cars above could provide a starting point, as "TVR'ising" cars (styling, dealer margin, warrantee etc) could add an additional 30-40% ?

I suppose my question overall is will TVR ever do anything to bring owners in at a lower level? The idea of a lower priced Tamora has always been mentioned, but I fail to see an alternative engine at lower cost - 280 to 300 bhp should be in order to give typical "TVR" performance.

Another question is does this matter anyway, as if a new TVR isn't affordable, will people just wait until the car they want is in their price range 2nd hand - rather than look elsewhere?

I'm thinking updated 3000M-ish. About 900 kg without the electric gadgetry. Grunty 250 horse foolproof 6 . . . bit of styling and sound. Problem with Z4, 350Z, S2000 cars is the hairdressers fragrance around it . . . This 3500M'd be a bit more no-nonsense.
