A man who claimed he was Superman and could fly suffered head and back injuries after jumping out of a fourth-floor window.

Paramedics rushed the 23-year-old man to a hospital in the city of Graz, 120 miles south of Vienna.

Authorities said the man appeared to have drunk several bottles of red wine before attempting the jump.

He appeared on a window ledge and shouted: "I am Superman. Nothing can happen to me."

The man landed on the roof of a lower section of the building sparing him from more serious injury, according to the authorities.
