So kinda thinking I should invets and by myself a bigger property or maybe invest in one abroad? but still undecided.....

Anyhow Can help noticing that every House I look at I see whether it has a garage and if its a double before weven looking to see what the house is like :hehe:

Anyone else found themselves doing the same.

when i bought the house i am in now, a big f**k off garage was at the top of my list.
it had one bingo! hot and cold water, heating andlighting, enough room for two cars , loads of room to work on the cars, lots of space for tools equipment.loads of power points. it was the garage of my dreams. so what happened? after a few years of filling it with furniture and other junk i have converted it into a self contained flat for my dad, who has difficulty with the stairs.
do i regret it? its my dad so "no comment."

...I considered removing my kitchen, and extending the garage into that area....

Too true, whenever I go to a manager's meeting I come off the M5 at J23 heading towards Glastonbury, the first house on this road has a lovely seperate double, double garage block - alays wondered what's inside?

Privacy and Parking Areas for my Cars seems more important that the rest of the house!

Am I in Need of Piston Heads Therapy ?

Pity I need to house the Misses and Kids Etc !!! (Joke by the way to the Lentalists!)

But Seriously I would put Parking and a Gate up there as priority .
Anyone else feel like this with their cars ?

I keep saying this to people - don't put all your eggs in one basket, especially if you are borrowing to invest. If you already own a residential property then investing in yet more is madness without first considering equities, bonds, ISAs, property funds etc etc.

Listen to me, about 5 years ago I decided not to keep my old flat when moving house and bought shares instead. Bloody stupid decision because the flat is worth about 60% more now and the shares? Well not even half that

as soon as i am in a position to move to a proper house (ie not one that is solely devoted to keeping students warm enough to have the energy to make it to the puba dn occasional lecture!) then a sizeable garage will be a major priority.

my parents have just moved house and i am sure that one reason for the move is that the house we have found hsa potentially more garage space than the old house!

I am in the process of buying a house now, the garage is the most important to me then the house. We have found a place with rear access to the garden and space for a big double garage. I got a call today from my solicitor to say he doesnt think we have right off access to the garage over two adjoining properties as the land do not belong to any of us he thinks it belongs to the primary school next door and the current owners have claimed it as theirs.

I was a bit worried about this as we wouldn't buy the house with no garage.(He has already done the search and sent us a copy of the title plan from the land registry).
So tonight I decided to have a look about on the web to see if I could find anything. And I did, on the land registry site I found a document (Deed) made between the four owners of the houses to provide a road alone the bottom of their gardens to provide access to garages.

So do you think I should charge the solicitors for my work?

When looking at propertys i have to say the garage is the most important part for me.
It has to have hot and cold runing water, heating eletric and a fair few windows to let the light in this is becuse i know every time me and the missus have a row thats where il end up i also would like under floor heating and a small sitting area with a sofa bed.
